Artificial London Planetree
London Planes – more commonly known as London Planetrees – are a hybrid tree species that became popular because of their ability to survive in areas with poor air quality. They had a surge of attention in Victoria times, and were among a small group of plants and trees that could handle the thick pollution in London.
London Planetrees often have bright, light green leaves, and are well known for their peeling bark. They aren’t planted often today, and the reason might surprise you. The tree can help with air purification, but it also has leaves and seeds that shed tiny stiff hairs. These are known irritants and can cause breathing difficulties.
Artificial London Planetrees do not disperse seeds or leaves, so they’re not an allergy concern. We craft our Artificial London Planes to client specifications, with both trunks and foliage custom-designed to your preferences.
