Column Concealment Trees at Midland Library

The creation of Midland Centennial Library was a huge project for Midland residents and Dewberry, the premier public library design company in Texas. They had a huge, open space that had previously been used as a retail establishment and lofty goals. The clients utilized our large artificial trees indoor as column concealment. We created Magnolia, Sugar Maple, and Black Oak large artificial trees. Indoor trees are a popular design and decor element for libraries in particular!

Priorities for the design included having dedicated areas for children, teens, meetings, and exhibits. They wanted to integrate digital features into the design, and also bring the feel of the outdoors inside.

Large columns throughout the space could have detracted from the form or function, but Midland Library took a different approach. They used our Fabricated Trees for both column concealment and unique library accent pieces!

The space now features Fabricated Black Oak Trees, Fabricated Magnolia Trees, and Fabricated Sugar Maple Trees. When asked about these elements, the Library Director said:

“The trees… What could we do that was something unique to Midland? Because of the drought and water restrictions there’s just not a lot of huge live oak trees in Midland.”
