Dispensary Design & Decor – Grass Monkey Cannabis

Cannabis dispensary design & decor is a rapidly growing subset of interior design. TreeScapes and PlantWorks had the chance to help one such establishment, Grass Monkey Cannabis Company, with their dispensary design and horticultural decorations.

Grass Monkey recently had their grand opening in South Portland, Maine, and we were called upon to bring some greenery to the space.

This was a fun project, because it let us be creative and work on new concepts. There were elements that we use frequently, like faux potted plants in baskets, and hanging vines.

Replica fiddle leaf fig trees are also popular, and we created a six-foot-tall version for them. It fit perfectly with all of the other replica plants inside.

There are other more unconventional elements, though. Replica boxwood hedges frame a spray paint rendering of a marijuana leaf. A monkey sculpture has a mohawk with our replica grass as his “hair”.

The statement piece is an artistic green wall of a monkey’s face, variegated with stripes of replica moss. This company did an amazing job at integrating their brand name into the decor!

Our contributions to the dispensary design joined other whimsical elements, like an oversized banana sculpture, and smaller monkey figurines climbing the walls.

The interior signage and art all feature graffiti elements, which capture the playful, unexpected, and urban look that Brass Monkey Cannabis Company epitomizes.

Dispensaries are a big business that are only growing as marijuana is legalized in more and more locations. That’s why dispensary design and decor is so important for cannabis companies.

If they want to become well-known, household names – or even obscure cult favorites – they need to be distinctive. They also have to appeal to their target audience, and the overall design has to make sense for their products.

Another challenge unique to this industry is the restrictions placed on exterior advertising. Many dispensaries across America are only allowed to decorate the inside of their space. Others can use exterior décor and signs, but they can’t actually reference cannabis or marijuana at all.

TreeScapes and PlantWorks are proud to help dispensaries with their decor and design needs. We have just about every variety of greenery that you can think of, and that includes replica cannabis!

You might wonder why a cannabis company would want artificial marijuana – especially when they sell real marijuana. It turns out that there are several compelling reasons why faux cannabis is the best choice for dispensaries.

Building regulations and federal laws can prohibit dispensaries from growing real cannabis, and the live plants can bring other complications when allowed. There’s a real risk of theft or damage to the plants by enthusiastic consumers.

Plus, cannabis plants are known to be sensitive and fickle. They require lots of care and attention, which may include special grow lamps, humidity control, or sterile environments.

With all of this in mind, it only makes sense to utilize fake cannabis for dispensaries! We’re happy to assist, with custom designs and products that celebrate hemp in its many forms. If you’re seeking assistance with cannabis dispensary design and decor, we’re here to help.

Instagrammable Place: L'Occitane Mediterranean Olive Tree

L’Occitane Mediterranean Olive Tree

Instagrammable Place: L'Occitane Mediterranean Olive Tree

We’re pleased to present the award-winning L’Occitane Mediterranean Olive Tree, on display at their flagship New York shop. We provided the custom fabricated tree that is now part of the immersive concept store.

The entire shop was created to be experimental and disruptive – a new way to engage shoppers who are used to buying things online. The interactive elements include a rain shower sink, free hand massages, virtual reality headsets, and a trio of yellow bikes in front of a Provencial French backdrop. Selfie opportunities are everywhere – including the L’Occitane Mediterranean Olive Tree by TreeScapes!

Olives trees are an important component of the L’Occitane brand. Olives are one of their five main product ingredients, along with lavender, verbena, almonds, and immortelle. L’Occitane sources only authentic, local products that are grown in the Provence area of France.

The symbolism is so important to L’Occitane that the brand uses a specific olive tree from the Valensole Farm (in Provence) as a signature element in their branding. It’s even featured on their shopping bags!

Award Winning L’Occitane Mediterranean Olive Tree

The store’s design and components have already won multiple awards, including Retail Design Institute’s 2018 Store of the Year.

“L’Occitane en Provence’s experiential store on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue was named as the Institute’s 2018 Store of the Year. The 1,870-sq.-ft. space is rich in experiences and is designed to be more agile and disruptive, with plenty of Instagrammable and interactive moments. Customers can explore brand history and signature products through ever-changing – and interactive — installations that echo the Provencal lifestyle…

Recognizing the team’s effort to elevate the customer experience, the judging panel not only unanimously voted L’Occitane Fifth Avenue as Store of Year, but also honored it with an Experiential Innovation Award for customer engagement.”

And the Store of the Year is…

L’Occitane’s Fifth Avenue store also named as the 2018 Spectrum Award Project Winner, and included on Insider Trends list of “31 of the World’s Best Brand Homes”.  We’re proud to have our tree featured there, and we love what the press has been saying about it:

“Other features include:

•A “rain-shower” sink: customers can test-and-play with products beneath a shower of water from an illuminated canopy above

•A curved communal bench set beneath the canopy of an “awe-inspiring” Mediterranean Olive tree.”

L’Occitane aims for a more immersive, more disruptive flagship

“Adjacent to the sink is a curved communal bench is set at the base of a Mediterranean Olive Tree. Here, guests are invited to sit under the tree canopy and be transported to the lavender field of Provence via VR headsets.”

Our L’Occitane Mediterranean Olive Tree is so realistic that it fools many into thinking it’s a real living tree! We can’t think of a better compliment on our design and creation…

“The store has a nice mix of the natural and the high-tech. There’s a live tree in the center of the store, and there are also lots of interactive tools and displays, including a virtual reality headset that can make you feel that you’re in a lavender field in Provence.”

Mediterranean Olive Trees from TreeScapes and PlantWorks are some of our most popular creations. We used them recently for two different projects in Las Vegas: CATCH restaurant at Aria Resort & Casino, and Vanderpump Cocktail Gardens at Caesar’s Palace.

Las Vegas Flower Wall – Revolve x Palms

Las Vegas flower walls are always impressive, and our creation at the Revolve shop in the Palms Casino is no exception! We used artificial roses, peonies, hydrangeas, ferns, and other florals to create a lush, iconic display.

Revolve only has one other physical location, the Revolve Social Club in Los Angeles. So this “long term pop up” retail shop needed to wow visitors who are used to shopping online. The Grand Opening event gained immediate attention from the press. There were models, designers, and celebrities present for the big launch!

The store celebrates its grand opening Friday and its 1,000 square feet of merchandise from brands such as company-owned labels Lovers + Friends, Tularosa and Grlfrnd. The company’s only other public-facing storefront is its Revolve Social Club on Melrose Avenue, although that door is focused mostly on private events and VIP experiences rather than serving as a full-time store for the public.

Raissa Gerona, Revolve chief brand officer, called the store a “long-term pop-up,” adding, “Palms is the perfect partner to bring the full Revolve experience to Vegas.”

Search the hashtag #revolvexpalms on Instagram and Twitter and see how others took advantage of this photo-perfect background. The video below, created by the Palms Casino, highlights the store’s features.

To see similar designs, check out the CATCH Aria Las Vegas flower wall. We designed it for the restaurant’s tunnel entryway. We also provided faux bougainvillea flowers and whimsical oversized birdcages around some of the booths. At the center of the restaurant is a stunning fabricated Mediterranean Olive tree. Be sure to take a look at the green wall we created for the Vanderpump Cocktail Garden as well!
